Capacity building is one of APAC’s strengths. APAC has
conceptualized and implemented various training programs in collaboration with
leading training institutes. Need based trainings were developed for NGO staff,
Health care providers and community. The Capacity building activities focuses on
enhancing knowledge, attitude and skills of the target groups. The target groups
for capacity building activities are service providers, stakeholders, and
beneficiaries. Periodical assessments have been carried out to understand the
effectiveness of the training programs.
All training programs of APAC focus on the following seven strategies:

Technical skill building : Training will be provided to
make improvement in the skills necessary to carry out specific technical
aspects of HIV/AIDS programs or initiatives

Management skill building: The improvement in the skills
necessary to effectively manage programs and efficiently utilize
organizational resources.

Management systems development: The improvement of internal
systems, operational procedures, or tools that facilitate more effective
management.

Resource diversification: The diversification of sources of
financial and physical resources.

Network building: The improvement of organizational ties to
constituents, peers, and policy makers to increase support for project
activities.

Organizational cross-fertilization: The improvement in the
cross-fertilization exchange of information and experience between program
managers involved in HIV/AIDS programs.

Multi-sectoral collaboration: The expansion of program
activities and ties to other public and private sectors not actively engaged
in addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
The following training programs are designed to cater to the
needs of the personnel & stakeholders in the area of HIV/AIDS prevention and
Care & support.
Hands on Training on Targeted Intervention
The demo centre concept is adopted to provide the trainees
hands on experience in the field situations using the thematic interventions
sites as learning laboratory for the trainees. To provide experiential learning,
the trainees will be taken to the Demo centers of selected themes and will have
an opportunity to learn from the intervention sites as learning laboratory. The
participating NGOs/CBOs are facilitated to gain knowledge and skills by visiting
demo centers in Tamil Nadu.
